Kolapo Olusola, deputy governor of Ekiti, has been adopted as the candidate for the state’s governorship election scheduled to take place in 2018.
Some stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state which cuts across local government chairmen and ward chairman on Wednesday endorsed Olusola after a meeting held at governor Ayo Fayose’s house.
A communique released after the meeting said the stakeholders endorsed Olusola “after due consultation.”
It read in part: “Without prejudice to provisions of the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended), we formally endorse professor Kolapo Olusola (the current deputy governor), from Ekiti south senatorial district, as our preferred aspirant/candidate.”

Those who signed the communique are Amuda Sunmonu (on behalf of ward chairmen) Anifowose Mustapha (on behalf of councillors), Femi Bamisile (on behalf of local government party chairmen), Dapo Olagunju (on behalf local government chairmen, ALGON) and Bode Ola (on behalf of chairmen of boards and corporations).
Others are Kolawole Oluwawole, speaker of the state house of assembly, Modupe Alade, secretary to the state government, and Gboyega Oguntuase, PDP’s state chairman.
Speaking with journalists, Alade described Olusola as “a competent and loyal member of the Fayose political family”.

She said his adoption was a reward for loyalty, dedication, and commitment.
