The election petition tribunal sitting in Ado Ekit, state capital, has granted the prayers of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to inspect election materials and results of the July 14 governorship election in the state.
The APC was represented at the tribunal by Yomi Ariyo, a senior advocate of Nigeria (SAN), who led six other counsel.
While granting the request, Suleiman Belgore, presiding judge, gave reasons for allowing the application which was filed on July 31.
According to him, the request was to obtain and photocopy all the election materials which were also in custody of the first respondent, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), seek forensic experts to access both machine and other materials used in the conduct of the election.

He added that the request was also approved for the opposition party.
Kayode Fayemi, the candidate of the APC, defeated Kolapo Olusola, the PDP candidate who is also the deputy governor of the state.
Fayemi polled 197,459 votes while Olusola had 178,121 votes.

However, the PDP rejected the results of the governorship election, saying that they were “falsified”.
The party alleged that card readers were brought in from other states to rig the election.
