The winner of the June 21 governorship election in Ekiti State will not be announced until early Sunday morning.
A senior official of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) told TheCable on Saturday night that the collation of results will be done all through the night.
Election was conducted in 177 wards and 2,195 polling units across the 16 local governments of the state.
“The results will be collated one by one. Every official will come forward with the signed results from each polling unit, ward and local government,” the official said.

The top two contenders in the election are the incumbent governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Ayo Fayose.
Although the final results have not been announced, supporters of Fayose are already celebrating his “victory” on the streets as voting scores trickled in from the polling units.
Fayose is expected to win by a wide margin, judging by the pattern of results so far.
