El-Rufai has agreed to free Audu Maikori, says Ezekwesili

Obiageli Ezekwesili, former minister of education, has said Chocolate City CEO, Audu Maikori, will be released Saturday.

Maikori was on Friday arrested by the police for making claims which allegedly inflamed the Southern Kaduna crisis.

The entrepreneur had in January tweeted that five students of College of Education, Gidan-Waya, were killed by Fulani herdsmen.

Days later, he took to social media to say “I tweeted facts that I believed to be true but were not,” stating that he was misinformed by his driver.

His arrest has generated mixed reactions on social media, and Ezekwesili is among the prominent figures commenting on the matter.

The Bring Back Our Girls convener said she had spoken with Kaduna governor, Nasir el-Rufai, and he had agreed to have Maikori released “quickly” so as to end the “unfortunate development.”
