Nasir El-Rufai, governor of Kaduna state, has suspended Ibrahim Danladi, village head of Goma in the Gimi district of Sanga local government area of the state, over drug-related offence.
According to Samuel Aruwan, the governor’s spokesman, operatives of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrested Danladi on 20 January for being in the possession of a 1.5kg of marijuana.
Aruwan, who said the traditional ruler admitted ownership of the illegal drug, revealed that the NDLEA will be charging Danladi as soon as it concludes investigations.
“In actualising his campaign against drugs, Kaduna Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai on Thursday announced the immediate suspension of a traditional ruler who was arrested over alleged drug related offence in the state,” read a statement signed Aruwan.

“The NDLEA arrested Danladi on 20 January while he was in possession of a 1.5kg of marijuana.
“The NDLEA subsequently notified the Kaduna state security council of the arrest of the traditional ruler. While deliberating on the matter, the Council recommended his suspension from office pending the conclusion of investigations and possible trial and the government accepted the recommendation.”
