Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, former president of Liberia, and Hadiza Bala Usman, managing director of the Nigerian Ports Authority, are some of the scheduled speakers for WISCAR’s (Women in Successful Careers) annual leadership and mentoring conference.
The conference is scheduled to hold on November 24 at Muson Centre.
Johnson-Sirleaf, who is also a Nobel Laureate and Liberia’s first female president, is the keynote speaker for the conference.
The conference is themed ‘Enriching Lives By Telling Our Own Stories’ and aims to highlight the importance of role modelling and mentorship by successful women leaders as a gift to the next generation in national development.

Other speakers include Nozipho January Bardill, corporate relations specialist and chair, Nelson Mandela University council; Polly Alakija, artist, author and chair Lagos State Council of Arts and Culture, Kofo Akinkugbe, CEO Secure ID Group, Aisha Ahmad, deputy governor of the Central Bank, Tunji Lardner, leader of thought and raconteur, Amina Oyagbola, WISCAR founder.
The event will be compered by Habiba Balogun. Ifeoma Fafunwa, Nigerian playwright and artiste, will also present thought-provoking sketches during the course of the programme.
The WISCAR conference affords women of all works of life and age the opportunity to learn, grow, network, contribute and add value to themselves, their families, fellow women, and the society at large.
