Elon Musk, the owner of X, formerly known as Twitter, says users involved in engagement farming will be suspended.
In a post on X on Friday, Musk said users engaging in such act will be traced and suspended.
“Any accounts doing engagement farming will be suspended and traced to source,” he said.
Engagement farming means creating and sharing sensationalised, controversial, or clickbait content, with the primary goal of maximising likes, comments, shares, or other forms of engagement.

The intent is to boost visibility, attract followers, or increase the reach of one’s profile or content.
It also involves using bot accounts to get more engagement on a post.
Musk has been implementing several measures to reduce bot on X.

On April 4, Musk announced that a cleanup to purge the social media platform of bot accounts and trolls was underway and would lead to the suspension of legitimate accounts.
Also, on April 16, he confirmed plans to charge new users to post on the platform.
He said it is the only solution to curb the issue of bots on the platform.
