Godwin Emefiele, governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), on Thursday bagged a lifetime award in banking, finance and national development.
The award was presented by the Institute for Service Excellence and Good Governance (ISEGG), at the Shehu Musa Yaradua Centre, Abuja.
Emefiele, who was represented by Emmanuel Ukeje, his special adviser on financial markets, appreciated ISEGG for recognising his effort and that of the apex bank in ensuring a sound financial system and developing the nation’s economy.
Emefiele, a graduate of the University of Nigeria, Stanford University, Harvard University and Wharton School of Business, has over two decades of experience in banking and finance.

Joe Abah, director-general of the Bureau of Public Service Reform, who delivered the key note address, was also awarded for service excellence and good governance.
Abah, who was represented by Sylvester Inyang-Anyang, a deputy director at the bureau, dedicated the award to every staff of the bureau.

In a tweet later in the day, Abah said: “This award really goes to all the staff of BPSR who work so hard to bring hope in the middle of hopelessness.”
Tope Fasua, ISEGG president, explained the role of the institute as one aimed at driving good governance and better service delivery in and out of public service.
He said the role of ISEGG in the service and leadership sphere is to facilitate and institute the premium standards of performance in the corporate and public sector, with resounding emphasis on good governance and service delivery.
