Emeka Ogbuh of Rivers United wins second wonder goal award

Rivers United’s Emeka Ogbuh has become the first player to win the VAT wonder goal award twice.

Ogbuh emerged with the highest votes for the match day 31 shortlisted goals.

His goal against Wikki Tourists polled a total of 2843 votes to beat Abayomi Adebayo of Shooting Stars to second place while FC Ifeanyi Ubah’s Isaac Loute is third.

Ogbuh had won the wonder goal award while playing for Heartland FC last season, but switched to Rivers United after the Owerri-based side was relegated.

He is the 12th player to win the award this season. He will get a cash prize of N150,000, half of which will be donated to a charity of his choice.

Rivers United is the second club to have two players win the award this season. Ayo Saka was the winner on match day 20.

Remo Stars was the first club to produce two winners; Ochowechi Salefu and Victor Chidume.

The VAT wonder goal award is supported by the Federal Inland Revenue Services (FIRS).
