Emmanuel Ibah, chairman of the Akwa Ibom state football association, has died from COVID-19 complications.
The 61-year-old, who was also a member of the executive committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and coordinator for the south-south zone of the body, breathed his last on Tuesday.
His demise was announced in a statement by the federation.
“Family sources confirmed to the NFF that Ibah, who was also Chairman of the Akwa Ibom Football Association, gave up the ghost on Tuesday morning after succumbing to complications from the new coronavirus pandemic,” the statement read.

Ibah, who lost his wife a couple of years ago, became a member of the NFF ExCo committee on September 18, 2018.
The deceased becomes the third member of the NFF executive committee to have passed away in 2020 — after Chidi Ofo Okenwa and Adamu Duhu respectively.
