Enyeama, Musa in CAF APOTY shortlist

Super Eagles captain, Vincent Enyeama and teammate Ahmed Musa have made the final shortlist of five players to fight holder Yaya Toure for the CAF Africa Footballer of the Year award.

The other players in the five-man list are Asamoah Gyan of Ghana and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Gabon.

The final five, drawn from an initial 25-man list named by CAF in November, will further be reduced to three at the Glo-CAF Awards Gala night schedule to take place in Lagos on the January 8, 2015.

The last time a Nigerian won this award was in 1999 when Nwankwo Kanu’s exploits with Premier League side Arsenal earned him the crown.

There are also two Nigerians for the women’s version of the award – Asisat Oshoala and Desire Oparanozie.

They will battle Annette Ngo Ndom of Cameroon, Portia Modise of South Africa and Zenatha Coleman of Namibia for Woman Player of the Year.

The winners will be decided by votes from the head coaches and technical directors of the national associations affiliated to CAF.
