Enyimba baffle Buffles in Cotonou

Enyimba have qualified for the next round of the CAF Champions League after beating Buffles du Borgu in Cotonou 1-0 and 4-0 on aggregate.

The People’s Elephants won the first leg 3-0 in Aba two weeks ago and they continued from where they stopped by creating the better chances in the first 45 minutes at the Stade de L’amitie.

Enyimba broke the deadlock six minutes into the second half after substitute Andrew Abalogu caught the ball-watching Buffles defenders napping to put the two-time CAF Champions League in front.

Buffles couldn’t make do of their boast of overturning the deficit after the loss in Aba as Enyimba easily held firm to secure a win.

Enyimba will now face Egyptian club Smouha in the first round of the competition later this month.

Smouha beat Ahli Tripoli of Libya 5-3 on penalties after they won the second leg 1-0, same margin they lost the first leg.
