Enyimba Football Club, Nigeria’s sole representative at the 2020/21 CAF Champions League, have crashed out of the tournament.

Enyimba failed to overturn the 3-0 goal deficit suffered away in Sudan a fortnight ago.

The Fatai Osho-inspired side, which have been struggling in front of goal so far this season, could not go past El Merreikh at the Aba Stadium on Wednesday.

The two-time African champions were ousted out of the competition on a 4-2 goal aggregate.

Saifeldin Maki, the hat trick hero in the first leg, opened the scoring for the visitors in the 7th minute.

Victor Mbaoma thereafter tapped home from a close range in the 14th minute to level up for the home side.

Mbaoma also converted from the spot-kick to put the home side ahead in the 51st minute.

All efforts by the people’s elephants to add more goals failed to yield results.

They will now play in the CAF Confederation Cup tournament instead.
