Enyimba fined N7m for ‘disruption’ of live NPFL broadcast

The board of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has imposed a fine of N7 million on Enyimba for an array of infringements during their matchday 24 league clash against Doma United.

In a thread of tweets on Thursday, the league body charged the club with three breaches of the NPFL framework during the game that ended 1-0 at the Enyimba stadium on Sunday.

NPFL said Enyimba failed “to provide adequate and effective security” and “encroachment onto the pitch at the Enyimba Stadium in Aba by unauthorised persons”.

The club was handed N1 million fine for each of the breaches.

The league body then imposed another N5 million fine for the “disruption of live broadcast, as a result, owing to the unsporting behaviour of Enyimba & failure to control the crowd”.

The NPFL defending champions would also play their next three home games without fans at the Enyimba stadium, Aba.

Similarly, the league body said Doma United failed “to ensure the proper conduct of their players & officials” during the game against Enyimba.
