Enyimba FC of Aba opened a five-point gap at the top of theNigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) table when they beat Shooting Stars 2-1 while closest rival Warri Wolves were held to a 1-1 draw at Rangers in Week 33 games played on Sunday.

Musa Najare opened the scoring for Enyimba in the 14th minute, but Ajani Ibrahim stunned the home fans when he equalised for Shooting Stars in the 56th minute.

However, Enyimba’s captain, Chinedu Udoji, got the winner when he nodded home Ezekiel Bassey’s cross 15 minutes to the end of the match.

In Enugu, Wolves took the lead after 13 minutes through Gbolahan Salami from an assist by Kufre Ebong.

Osas Okoro drew Rangers level in the 51st minute from close range.

Wikki Tourists suffered a 2-0 defeat against Sharks in Port Harcourt as the Blue Angels boosted their survival hopes.

In Kano, a late Tony Edjomariegwe penalty helped the defending champions Kano Pillars beat Sunshine Stars 2-1. Pillars went ahead in the 15th minute when Omololu Waheed scored an own goal.

The visitors drew level in the 58th minute, but the hosts grabbed all three points when Edjomariegwe scored from the spot barely two minutes to the end of the encounter.
