Mohamed Salah scored the only goal as Liverpool produced their best display of the season to defeat Manchester City 1-0 in their English Premier League (EPL) encounter at Anfield on Sunday.
The feisty encounter saw a first half few on chances but high on entertainment, with Erling Haaland’s back-post header and chipped shot both comfortably saved by Liverpool’s goalkeeper.
Andy Robertson was however guilty of wasting Liverpool’s best chance when he failed to hit the target from a rebound.
Pep Guardiola’s side turned up the heat in the second period and Phil Foden thought he had put City ahead. But the goal was cancelled by VAR following a foul by Haaland on Fabinho in the buildup.

Liverpool would eventually find the breakthrough 15 minutes from time when Alisson’s quick thinking released Salah on goal and the 30-year-old finished with aplomb to seal a deserved win, their first league win in four matches.
Liverpool move to eight on the table with 13 points while Man City remain second with 23 points.
Arsenal’s slim 1-0 victory at Leeds United however saw them move four points clear at the top of the EPL table.
