Arsenal returned to winning ways with a 2-0 win over Luton Town in their English Premier League (EPL) match at Emirates Stadium on Wednesday.

Both goals came in the first half of a match Arsenal dominated to claim a comfortable win.

Mikel Arteta’s men had taken a point in the hard-fought goalless draw at Manchester City on Sunday but dominated the relegation-threatened side to maintain their title challenge.

Martin Odegaard put the home side ahead on 24 minutes when he finished with aplomb from Kai Havertz’s pass before an own goal by Daiki Hashioka on 44 minutes sealed the win before halftime.

Untroubled in the second period, the Gunners’ victory sees them return to the top of the pile with 68 points from 30 matches, dislodging Liverpool to second place with one point less and a game in hand.

Manchester City also stayed close on the title charge as the defending champions breezed past Aston Villa, top-four hopefuls, 4-1 at the Etihad Stadium.

Phil Foden netted a hat-trick in the encounter as the Cityzens moved joint-second with Liverpool albeit with an inferior goal difference.
