Taiwo Awoniyi scored the first goal as ten-men Nottingham Forest surrendered a two-goal lead to lose 3-2 to Manchester United in their English Premier League (EPL) match at Old Trafford on Saturday.

The 26-year-old Nigerian scored with only two minutes on the clock, slotting home after a 50-yard counter attack run.

Although Willy Boly headed in a corner to extend the visitors’ lead, Man United staged a remarkable comeback to snatch victory.

Christian Eriksen halved the deficit before the interval as Casemiro levelled early in the second half. Bruno Fernandes dispatched a penalty minutes after Forest were reduced to ten men.

He also becomes the third African player to score in seven successive EPL games — following in the footsteps of Emmanuel Adebayor and Mohamed Salah.

Elsewhere, Calvin Bassey saw red card for Fulham in their 2-2 draw against Arsenal. The Super Eagles of Nigeria defender was sent off for a second bookable offence on 83 minutes.
