EPL: Liverpool defeat Tottenham in six-goal thriller as Chelsea win London derby

Liverpool scored twice in each half to defeat Tottenham 4-2 in their English Premier League (EPL) match at Anfield on Sunday.

Mohammed Salah opened the scoring, and further goals by Andy Robertson, Cody Gapko, and Harvey Elliot had the Reds cruising, but Richarlison and Heun-Min Son responded for Tottenham, setting up a tense finale.

The first goal came in the 12th minute following a brilliant finish from Salah, then the Egyptian’s saved shot was pounced upon by Robertson for a tap-in on the stroke of halftime for a two-nil lead at the interval.

The Reds added two more strikes early in the second half: Gapko headed home in the 50th minute before Elliot curled in from 20 yards to make it 4-0 before the hour mark.

Tottenham, chasing a top-four place, finally found a way through the hosts’ defence when Richarlison tapped in Brennan Johnson’s cross in the 72nd minute, and the Brazilian teed up Son to slot home the second five minutes later.

A dazed Liverpool regained consciousness and saw out the contest to take all three points.

Liverpool remain third on the EPL log with 78 points from 36 matches, while Tottenham are also rooted in fifth on 60 points, seven behind fourth-placed Aston Villa with three matches to end the season.
