EPL: Liverpool demolish West Ham to go 8 points clear as Man City claim vital win

Liverpool players celebrate 5-0 win over West Ham

Rampant Liverpool scored thrice in the first half to secure an easy 5-0 win over West Ham during their English Premier League (EPL) encounter at the London Stadium on Sunday.

Luiz Diaz, Cody Gakpo, Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Diogo Jota were all on target for table-topping Liverpool in the easy win, with West Ham offering no resistance to the Reds’ imperial attack.

West Ham looked subdued from the first minute as Liverpool poured forward carving out chances. They deservedly took the lead in 30 minutes with a well-struck low shot into the bottom corner.

Gakpo doubled the lead in 39 minutes with an easy finish before Salah, who provided two assists in the match, made it 3-0 at the break with a near-post finish from 20 yards for his 20th goal of the season.

Alexander-Arnold made it four early in the second half with a deflected long-range strike that wrong-footed Areola as it flew into the net before Jota completed scoring seven minutes from time with a curler into the far corner.

Victory sees Liverpool increase their points tally to 45 points from 18 matches, extending their lead at the top of the table to eight points.

Earlier in the day, Manchester City secured their first league win in five attempts with a 2-0 victory over Leicester City at the King Power stadium. Goals from Savinho and Erling Haaland ensured Pep Guardiola celebrated his 500th game as Man City manager with victory.
