EPL: Man United, Arsenal share points as Chelsea return to top 4 with Leicester win

Arsenal rescue a point against Manchester United in their Premier League encounter at Old Trafford

Manchester United and Arsenal played out an entertaining 1-1 draw in their English Premier League (EPL) encounter at Old Trafford on Sunday.

A sluggish first half was wiped away on the stroke of halftime by Bruno Fernandes, the Man United captain, when he bent in a 20-yard free kick to put Ruben Amorim’s struggling side 1-0 up at halftime.

The second half saw both sides take the next gear in attack, with Martin Odegaard first testing Andre Onana who responded with a fingertip save to the admiration of fans.

From thereon, the home side fashion chances that they couldn’t finish off, with David Raya, Arsenal goalkeeper, excellently stopping a Noussair Mazraoui strike before Joshua Zirkzee’s flicked effort was also expertly saved by the Spanish goalkeeper.

Arsenal made Man United pay for the misses with the equalizer on 75 minutes, Declan Rice fizzling a shot to the far corner beyond Onana for 1-1.

The visitors looked the likelier to score after the equalizer but Gabriel Martinelli skied his effort when Onana spilled a routine shot, while Man United nearly won it at the end through Fernandes but the Portuguese midfielder’s shot was saved in two attempts by Raya as both sides settled for a point apiece.

The draw sees Arsenal remain second on the log with 55 points from 28 matches, 15 points behind runaway leaders Liverpool, while Man United climb up to 14th position with 34 points from 28 matches.

The Blues moved up to fourth position, two points ahead of fifth-placed Manchester City, while Wilfred Ndidi’s Leicester City remain in 19th place, deep in relegation trouble.
