Manchester United and Brentford both scored in added time goal to share the points following a 1-1 draw in their English Premier League (EPL) match at the Community Stadium on Saturday evening.

The hosts dominated their more illustrious visitors in both halves but could not find a way through and needed Kristoffer Ajer’s strike to cancel Mason Mount’s goal for the visitors.

Brentford tested the Red Devils severally in the first period and continued in the second half without success. Ivan Toney thought he had put Yhomas Frank’s side ahead midway into the second half but he was adjudged to be fractionally offside.

Despite Man United losing Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof, two key defenders, to injury, Mount clinically finished off Casemiro’s pass in the sixth minute of added time to snatch the lead for the Mancunians.

Brentford however responded immediately, with Ajer collecting Toney’s low cross before planting a shot to the bottom corner for a deserved equalizer with their 31st shot of the night.

The draw ended a run of consecutive defeats for Brentford, while Man United dropped points in the top-four race.

Erik ten Hag’s side remain sixth on the EPL log, with 48 points from 29 matches, 11 points away from the much-coveted Champions League spot.

In earlier matches, Newcastle United triumphed over West Ham United in a seven-goal thriller, scoring two late goals for a 4-3 victory. Tottenham also came from a goal down to overcome Luton 2-1. Chelsea were however held to a 2-2 draw by ten-man Brentford.
