Lisandro Martinez scored a late goal as Manchester United laboured to a 1-0 win over Fulham in their English Premier League (EPL) encounter at Craven Cottage on Sunday evening.
The Red Devils bounced back from defeat at home to Brighton in their last league game but were below par against Fulham until the Argentine defender provided the all-important winner with the side’s first shot on target.
Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey, Super Eagles of Nigeria internationals, played all 90 minutes of the encounter.
Iwobi got the first shot of the encounter but his effort was an easy gather for Andre Onana in Man United’s goal.

He went closer on 19 minutes but Onana was again equal to the task, while Raul Jimenez and Adama Traore both fired wide from promising openings.
The breakthrough came late in the encounter and it was the lackluster visitors who got the slice of luck through Martinez on 78 minutes.
The former Ajax defender ran onto Alejandro Garnacho’s cutback and his shot took a wicked deflection off Sasa Lukic before going over Bernd Leno and into the net for an unlikely lead twelve minutes from time.

Fulham pushed for the equalizer and came closest when Toby Collyer cleared Joachim Anderson’s header off the line, while Rodrigo Muniz blazed another good opportunity high and wide.
Amad Diallo thought he had added more gloss to the scoreline but his effort was chalked off by VAR following a review as Ruben Amorim’s side claimed all three points in London.
Man United moved up to 12th position on the EPL log with 29 points from 23 matches, and are 13 points clear of the relegation zone.
Elsewhere, Tottenham are in danger of relegation trouble following a 2-1 loss at home to relegation-threatened Leicester City. Brentford also won by the same scoreline away to Crystal Palace.
