Arsenal scored four goals in the second half to thrash Manchester City 5-1 in their English Premier League (EPL) encounter at the Emirates on Sunday.
Martin Odegaard, Thomas Partey, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Kai Havertz, and Ethan Nwaneri were all on target for the Gunners. Erling Haaland scored City’s solitary goal as the defending champions were run ragged by the spirited Arsenal side.
The home side took the lead in the second minute thanks to Manuel Akanji’s defensive error. The defender’s mistake was pounced on by Havertz, who set up Odegaard to slot the opener into the net just two minutes into the encounter.
There would be no further goals until the second half when Haaland connected Savinho’s cross with a towering header to restore parity ten minutes after the restart.

Arsenal reclaimed the lead two minutes later through Partey’s long-range shot, which took a wicked deflection off John Stones into the net. Lewis-Skelly scored the best goal of the day five minutes later for his first senior goal. The 18-year-old whipped a brilliant strike into the back of the net to extend Arsenal’s lead before Havertz finished off a counterattack with a curling shot into the far post.
Nwaneri completed the rout deep into added time with another well-taken goal. The 17-year-old substitute found the far corner to complete the thrashing.
Arsenal are on a 14-match unbeaten streak, and their second consecutive victory at home to Man City inflicted a first league defeat in seven matches on the defending champions.
