EPL roundup: Alisson’s last-gasp winner keeps Liverpool’s top four hopes alive

Alisson Becker scored a crucial goal in the dying minutes to help Liverpool defeat West Bromwich Albion 2-1 on Sunday.

Liverpool earned the comeback win through Mohamed Salah and Alisson’s heroics, putting them in the mix of English Premier League clubs chasing a top four finish.

Alisson’s header is the first-ever competitive goal by a goalkeeper in Liverpool’s history.

West Brom, already relegated, took the initiative against a sloppy Reds, thanks to Hal Robson-Kanu, who latched on to a long ball to score his first goal of the season.

Salah equalised on 33 minutes with a first time strike into the bottom left corner.

Sam Allardyce’s men thought they had the second goal through Kyle Bartley but VAR disallowed the strike for offside and obstruction of the goalkeeper.

With seconds left in the encounter, Liverpool finally found an unlikely hero. Alisson came up for a corner kick and planted a free header into the far post to send the Liverpool contingent into frenzy mode.

In an earlier fixture, Tottenham defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-0 with goals from Harry Kane and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

Kane’s 22nd goal of the season keeps him tied in first place with Salah for the season’s Golden Boot award.
