Taiwo Awoniyi, Super Eagles of Nigeria striker, scored the consolation goal for Nottingham Forest as Arsenal began their quest to challenge for the English Premier League (EPL) title with a 2-1 victory at the Emirates stadium on Saturday.
The first game of the season for both sides saw Awoniyi, who came on as a 72nd minute substitute, score ten minutes later to give his Forest side a glimmer of hope that did not materialise.
The 25-year-old striker started a counter attack with Anthony Elanga and continued the run that culminated in him finding space between two defenders to slot the winger’s pass into the back of the net.
Awoniyi has now scored in his five EPL matches in a row, netting seven goals in the sequence.

The bulky striker has also netted against Arsenal in consecutive matches.
Arsenal had scored twice in the first half through Eddie Nketiah’s opener and Bukayo Saka’s excellent curling shot into the top corner from outside the area.
The Gunners held on to claim full points.
