Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspurs played out an entertaining goalless draw while Manchester United came from two goals down to record a 3-2 win over Southampton in the English Premier League (EPL) on Sunday.
In the eagerly anticipated match of the weekend, both Chelsea and Tottenham, who have scored the most goals in the EPL this season, failed to find the back of the net on this occasion as both defences were excellent.
Tottenham started the entertaining encounter on the right foot but were denied by Edouard Mendy, Chelsea goalkeeper, who kept out Serge Aurier’s ferocious strike while another Spurs chance from Steven Bergwijn went over the bar.
Although the Blues struggled to carve out clear-cut chances, they had the ball in the net when Timo Werner, their German striker, curled into the corner. He was, however, a fraction offside while collecting the through pass.

The levels dropped in the second period which Chelsea dominated but they had to wait till the 80th minute for a shot on goal, with Hugo Lloris diving low to stop Mason Mount’s shot from crawling into the bottom corner.
Both teams could have won it in added time of the 90 minutes through defensive blunders. First, Olivier Giroud could not capitalize on Joe Rodon’s poor back header while Giovani Lo Celso failed to find a teammate following Kurt Zouma’s poor pass.
Despite the draw, Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham retained the first spot on the EPL table — better than Liverpool only by goals difference.

…Manchester United are comeback kings away from home
Earlier in the day, Manchester United continued their reputation as comeback kings away from home with a last-minute 3-2 win over Southampton after going two goals down in the first half.
The Red Devils have won all four of their away fixtures in the EPL this season, and they won all four after conceding first. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men have also won their last eight league games on the road, a club record.
Their latest comeback was spurred by Edison Cavani, their recently acquired Uruguayan striker, who came on at half time. The 33-year-old former Paris Saint Germain (PSG) forward scored twice, including the last-minute winner, and provided an assist.
