EPL results: Emmanuel Dennis scores on Watford debut as Man United, Chelsea grab huge wins

Emmanuel Dennis, Super Eagles of Nigeria striker, scored on his debut for Watford in the English Premier League (EPL) as the Hornets claimed a nail-biting 3-2 victory over Aston Villa at Vicarage Road Stadium on Saturday.

The 23-year-old forward, who signed from Club Brugge in Belgium, opened the scoring for Watford as the newly-promoted side announced its EPL return with a bang.

William Troost-Ekong and Oghenekaro Etebo, two other Super Eagles players, both featured for all 90 minutes as Watford won the keenly contested match

The striker opened the floodgate of goals in the 10th minute with a well-placed strike after his initial shot was blocked. Ismael Sarr, who assisted Dennis’ goal, then scored the second for a two-goal lead at halftime.

Xisco Munoz’s side scored a third on 67 minutes, a minute after Dennis’ substitution, but had to hold on after conceding two late goals — including a 90th-minute penalty scored by Danny Ings.

Big wins for Man United, Chelsea

In the first match of the day, Manchester United scored four second-half goals, including three goals in eight minutes, to steamroll Leeds United 5-1 at Old Trafford.

On a day the club announced the signing of Raphael Varane, Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba stole the show with a hat-trick and four assists respectively.

Mason Greenwood and Fred added further goals with assists from the magnificent Pogba.

Chelsea also secured a comfortable 3-0 win over Crystal Palace. First-half goals from Marcos Alonso and Christian Pulisic put the blues in control while Nathaniel Chalobah scored a debut goal to seal the easy victory against a disjointed and lethargic Crystal Palace side managed by Patrick Vieira, a former Arsenal player.
