Manchester United retained the second position in the English Premier League (EPL) following a 1-0 win over West Ham United at Old Trafford on Sunday night, thanks to an own goal from Craig Dawson.
The Red Devils relied on a second-half mishit from the lanky defender to complete the double over West Ham for the first time in seven seasons.
A game that promised much did not spark into life until the final seven minutes of the first half, with Lukaz Fabianski saving well from both Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford.
The Hammers, winless in their last 12 Premier League away games against Manchester United, had no shot in the first half and found themselves behind in unfortunate circumstances on 53 minutes.

Dawson leaped to clear Bruno Fernandes’ corner but inadvertently head the ball into his own goal.
Fabianski, on one of his best evenings, further denied United more chances on goal, while Greenwood hit the post with twelve minutes remaining.
The visitors did not register a shot on target as Man United kept their fourth straight clean sheet in the league for the first time under Ole Gunnar Solskjær.

United have amassed 57 points from 29 matches, 14 behind Man City, their local rivals and runaway leaders who have played a game more.
