Manchester United suffered a surprising 2-1 loss to Sheffield United in the English Premier League (EPL) match played at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

Sheffield United, which are currently at the bottom club of the EPL table, scored once in both halves to dent the title aspiration of their hosts who briefly equalised through Harry Maguire’s header but failed to leapfrog Man City, their rival at the top of the league.

The visitors took a shock first-half lead through Kean Bryan’s flicked header from a corner kick delivery in the 23rd minute — a goal they managed to take into the interval.

Maguire restored parity in the 64th minute with a header but the underwhelming hosts conceded another goal to the Blades who had only won once in the league before this encounter.

The blades had Oliver Burke to thank as the striker’s shot deflected off Axel Tuanzebe before finding the net. It is Sheffield United’s first win over Man United since 1992.

Man United remain second, a point behind City while Sheffield United are bottom and 10 points from safety.

Tuchel starts with a draw against Wolves

At Stamford Bridge, Tomas Tuchel started his reign as Chelsea manager with a goalless draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The animated German manager took his first game barely 24 hours after his appointment as replacement for the sacked Frank Lampard, and he watched his side draw blanks despite dominating the match.

The Blues utterly bossed the game against a Wolves team that had not won since December 15, completing 433 successful passes in a first half they threatened without success.

Rui Patricio, Wolves goalkeeper, kept out Antonio Rudiger’s header and Callum Hudson-Odoi’s deflected strike in the first half.

Chelsea had over 78% possession and completed 820 passes, but were further denied by both goalkeeper and solid defending in the second period with Ben Chillwell firing wide while William Jose blocked Pulisic’s attempt.
