EPL round-up: Arsenal triumph over Man United as Liverpool defeat Aston Villa

Arsenal scored two late goals to record a 3-1 comeback win over Manchester United in their English Premier League (EPL) encounter on Sunday.

Declan Rice, their £100 million record signing, and Gabriel Jesus scored the breakthrough goals in injury time after Martin Odegaard had earlier cancelled out Marcus Rashford’s lead for Erik ten Hag’s side.

Rashford was allowed to push the Arsenal defence into the penalty area before slotting in for the opener on 27 minutes.

Arsenal, who had not lost to Man United in their last five matches, responded with the equaliser through Odegaard’s first-time shot from Gabriel Martinelli.

The Gunners had a penalty decision overturned by VAR while Alejandro Gernacho’s late strike for Man United was also chalked off for offside as both sides went for the winner in an entertaining second half — but it was the home side that took all the points.

Rice’s deflected strike following a corner kick sneaked in beyond André Onana before Jesus added more gloss to the win.

The unbeaten Gunners are up to fifth with their third win in four matches while Man United suffered their second loss of the campaign.
