Andre Onana put on a goalkeeping masterclass as Manchester United and Ipswich played out a 1-1 draw in their English Premier League (EPL) encounter at Portman Road on Sunday.
The first match of new coach Ruben Amorim’s Man United tenure started with a share of the spoils thanks to superb saves by Andre Onana, the club’s shotstopper, as the team looks unsettled in the new-look formation. Marcus Rashford and Omar Hutchinson scored for Man United and Ipswich in the first half, respectively.
The Red Devils took the lead within two minutes of the match. Amad Diallo embarked on a lung-busting rum on the flank before crossing for Rashford to bundle home for 1-0 on 81 minutes, Man United’s fastest goal this season.
Ipswich grew into the game but were denied on multiple occasions by Onana in the Man United goal. The Cameroon international pushed away Sammie Szmodics’ tricky 18-yard shot before producing an excellent point-blank save to deny Liam Delap.

Ipswich continued to press and eventually got their deserved leveller on 43 minutes through Omar Hutchinson’s deflected long-range strike.
Onana again denied Delap to keep the scores level, while Bruno Fernandes saw a free kick miss the target by whiskers. Both sides could not find the winner, sharing the points following an underwhelming second half. Man United remain in 12th place with 16 points from 12 matches, while Ipswich moved up a spot to 18th position on the log.
In the other match of the day, Mohamed Salah scored twice—including the winning goal—as Liverpool consolidated their lead at the EPL summit with a 3-2 win over Southampton. Victory for Arne Slot’s men extends the Reds’ lead over second-placed Manchester City to eight points after only 12 matches.
