Europa League last 32: Man United draw Real Sociedad, Arsenal get Benfica

Manchester United were paired with Real Sociedad, current Spanish La Liga leaders, in the Europa League round of 32 draw released on Monday.

According to the draw, Arsenal will face Benfica as the Gunners continue their chase for trophies under Mikel Arteta while Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham will take on Wolfsburg.

The three top English sides have had contrasting fortunes since the start of the 2020/2021 football season.

While Tottenham continue their rejuvenation under Mourinho and currently sit atop the English Premier League (EPL) table, both Arsenal and Manchester United are struggling to sustain the momentum.

The Red Devils were recently dumped out of the Champions League after failing to build on their strong start to the campaign.

Leicester, the fourth English team in the competition, will tackle Slavia Prague while Rangers, Steven Gerrard’s  Scottish Premier League leaders, will square up against Royal Antwerp.

The round of 32 is the first knockout phase of Europe’s second-tier competition. The first legs of the ties are billed to hold on February 18, 2021 while the second legs will take place seven days later.
