Dosu Joseph's football career was cut short by an auto accident in 1997 when he was 23

Dosu Joseph, ex-goalkeeper of Nigeria’s Super Eagles, survived an auto crash around the Ojodu Berger area of Lagos.
In a post on Facebook on Friday, Dosu shared footage from the crash scene with the rear end of his Ford stuck underneath a heavy-duty truck.
The 51-year-old said the accident happened on Wednesday while he was at a filling station to purchase fuel.
He added that the truck veered off the road after failing to apply brakes, colliding with his car and reducing it to a wreckage.
“I and my friend SM was at Enyo filling station after Ojodu Berger bus stop, to get fuel on Wednesday 2nd October 2024 between 6 pm and this Mack truck with registration number LND 470 XXX [fully] loaded with iron left the road and [crashed] my car to [unrepair]. Thank God for life,” he wrote in the video’s caption.
Dosu was the goalkeeper of the historic team that won gold at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta.
He had a similar brush with death on another Lagos commute in 1997 — shortly after the Olympic triumph.
The accident left him almost paralysed at 23 and abruptly ended his footballing career, which at the time was just about to take a lift.
Dosu is currently the head coach of the eponymous Joseph Dosu Football Club in Lagos
