Kabir Adjoto, former speaker of the Edo house of assembly, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to prevail on Adams Oshiomhole, former national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), to stop “instigating violence in the state”.
He made the call on Monday in Benin while briefing journalists on Akoko-Edo local government violence.
Adjoto also called on the inspector-general of police, to set up a crack team to investigate the violence in the area to forestall further violence on PDP members in the area.
He said the gunmen allegedly opened fire on PDP supporters at Ekpe public field during a meeting on August 28, injuring 13 persons who are receiving treatment at undisclosed hospital.

He said the attack will not deter the people but strengthen their resolve to vote for Obaseki who is on the side of the people.
“All we want is peaceful election where people will vote their conscience. So, we are calling on President Buhari, because he is a man of peace and has the capacity to prevail on Oshiomhole to stop instigating violence in the state,” he said.
Responding, spokesperson to Oshiomole, Victor Oshioke, denied the allegations, saying that the former governor is a man of peace.
