Bagudu Hirse, former minister of foreign affairs who was abducted by unknown gunmen on Sunday in Kaduna, has been released.
His daughter, Nanbam Bupwatda, who confirmed the release in a telephone interview with TheCable, said her father was freed around 4am.
Although she did not say whether a ransom was paid, a source said an undisclosed sum of money was paid to the kidnappers before his release.
Spokesman of the Kaduna state police command, Aliyu Usman, could not be reached as his telephone was switched off.
