Ex-rep bows out as six aspirants vie for APC Anambra guber ticket

Chukwuma Umeoji

Chukwuma Umeoji, a governorship aspirant in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election scheduled to be held in Anambra state on Saturday, has withdrawn from the race.

Umeoji, a former member of the house of representatives, announced his withdrawal on Friday, citing wide consultations with his supporters across the state.

“This decision was made in good faith following consultations with my supporters across the state,” he said.

In a statement signed by Felix Morka, APC national publicity secretary, the party thanked Umeoji for his “dedicated support” in Anambra and at the national level.

With Umeoji’s withdrawal, the aspirants remaining in the race are Nicholas Ukachukwu, another former federal lawmaker, and Valentine Ozigbo, People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the 2021 governorship election.

Others are Paul Chukwuma, Obiora Okonkwo, Johnbosco Onunkwo and Edozie Madu.
