Sunday Karimi, a former federal lawmaker representing Yagba constituency, has urged the people of Kogi to remain committed in their quest to promote peace and development in the state.

Karimi, who was the chairman at the ‘Amuro Day 2021’, commended Yahaya Bello, Kogi governor, for contributing “a lot” to the development of the state.

‘Amuro Day’ is an event organised by the seven confederating units of Amuro, a community in Kogi state, for the promotion of the culture of the people.

Karimi said during his tenure as a federal lawmaker, he contributed to the renovation of Amuro community secondary school, which served as the venue for the event.

“As a member of the house of representatives, I did some renovation works in this school. I provided transformers and I can say that there is no community in Yagba land where I did not provide a motorised borehole,” he said.

“The hallmark of representation is to contribute to the welfare and well-being of the people. We must constantly remind ourselves of this.

“The present administration in the state, under his excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, is doing a lot. But communities must also do their best to achieve development.”

“We are a great people with abundant resources. We will continue to do our best to attain greatness,” he said.

“I urge you all to continue to support the Alhaji Yahaya Bello administration that is committed to peace and development.”

In their remarks, Alfred Ayedogbon, Alamuro of Amuro, and David Agunbiade, national president of Amuro community, called on the people to remain united in order to attract development to the community.
