Ex-senate spokesperson Ayogu Eze dies at 66

Ayogu Eze, a former senator representing Enugu north, is dead.

Eze was in the senate between 2007 and 2015.

The former lawmaker reportedly died in an Abuja hospital at the age of 66.

The cause of death is not known, but Eze had reportedly been battling an undisclosed illness.

While in the upper legislative chamber, the late Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senator was a member of the constitution amendment committee.

While serving as the senate spokesperson, Eze also chaired the committee on works and was a member of police affairs, marine transport, and federal character panels, among others.

In 2015, Eze contested the governorship ticket of the PDP in Enugu state but lost out to Ifeanyi Ugwuayi.

He was once a commissioner for information in the administration of Chimaroke Nnamani, a former governor of Enugu.
