Excitement in Bichi-Kano as beneficiaries of 9mobile-sponsored Digital Skills Programme graduate

The town of Bichi in Kano state came alive on Thursday 19th of August as the graduation ceremony of the first beneficiaries of 9mobile sponsored Bichi Emirate Digital Skill programme was held.

The 54 beneficiaries all received their certificate of completion in Digital skills in a lit event, that was well-attended by Royal fathers, top government officials and other influential dignitaries including; the Governor of Kano state, His Excellency, Dr. Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, Sultan of Sokoto,  His Eminence, Alhaji Muhammed Sa’ad Abubakar III CFR, the Emir of Bichi and Chief Visioner of the programme, His Highness, Alhaji Nasir Ado Bayero, the Dein of Agbor, His Royal Majesty, Keagborekuzi, the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, the Executive Vice Chairman, Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) Prof. Umar Danbatta, and other distinguished personalities.

Commending 9mobile for sponsoring the initiative, Prof. Umar Danbatta remarked that the programme is in line with key policy documents developed by the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, including; the Nigeria National Broadband Plan 2020-2025, the National Digital Economy Policy and Strategic 2010-2030 and the National Policy of Promotion of Indigenous Content in the Nigerian Telecommunication sector (NPPIC), to promote a digital economy.

On their parts, the Emir of Bichi, and the Kano State Governor, both thanked 9mobile for its support for the programme and the people of the emirate and the state in general. They urged the beneficiaries to put to use all that they had learnt in order to impact the lives of their families, communities and the state.

Reiterating 9mobile’s commitment to youth empowerment, the Acting Chief Executive Officer, 9mobile, Juergen Peschel, stated that the 9mobile Bichi Emirate Digital Skills programme is one of its strategic efforts to contribute to the human capital development of Nigeria, by providing digital skill acquisition opportunities for youths in line with government’s agenda on digital transformation.

An elated 21-year old Abubakar Ali Usman remarked on behalf of the beneficiaries that the training was a huge confidence booster. He said he believes that with the skills that he and others have acquired, they can now compete favourably on a far broader scale.
