EXTRA: 63% of senate absent as lawmakers review Buhari’s supreme court nominations

Only 37 percent of the 109-man senate showed up at the upper chamber of the national assembly for legislative business on Tuesday.

The significantly poor turnout was observed when the senators voted electronically to confirm Ejembi Eko and Amina Augie as justices of the supreme court.

President Muhammadu Buhari had sent the nominees to the senate on September 22 for confirmation.

While voting on the confirmation of Eko, it was observed that 39 senators registered but 38 voted yes.
