EXTRA: Buhari wants Nigerians to sleep with both eyes closed – and the DisCos are making this happen, says Shehu Sani

Shehu Sani, senator representing Kaduna-central, says electricity distribution companies (DisCos) are the only ones ensuring Nigerians sleep with both eyes closed.

Sani said this in reference to the statement President Muhammadu Buhari made when he met with service chiefs on Thursday.

The president had charged heads of security agencies to ensure Nigerians go to be rest assured of their safety.

“He (Buhari) has given directives that security agencies should do much more to ensure that Nigerians go to bed and wake up feeling healthy and confident that their security is guaranteed,” Ibok Ekwe Ibas, chief of naval staff, had said while briefing reporters after the meeting.

Meanwhile, many places across the country were thrown into darkness after the national power grid collapsed twice in 24 hours.

Alluding to Buhari’s statement, Sani said while the president wanted security chiefs to ensure Nigerians sleep with their eyes closed, it is actually power outage that is making that happen.

“The President want security agencies to ensure that Nigerians go to bed with their two eyes closed; for now, only DisCos and their power outages are ensuring that,” Sani wrote.
