The Kano state Hisbah board has set up a five-member committee to investigate Sani Remo, one of its top officers, for allegedly having an affair with a married woman.
Lawal Fagge, the board’s spokesman, told TheCable on Wednesday that the committee had been given three days to submit the report of its investigation.
Remo was reportedly arrested by the police on Monday, while in a hotel room with the woman.
The arrest was said to have been made, following a complaint by the woman’s husband.

After the arrest, a deputy Hisbah commander was said to have gone to the police station to bail the arrested officer.
The bail request was initially rejected, but after a series of negotiations, the case was referred to the Hisbah headquarters for proper investigation.
Fagge said after the investigation, the board would take necessary disciplinary action against the officer.

“But if the outcome of the investigation or the recommendations are beyond the power of the board, it will forward the same to the appropriate authority for necessary action,” he said.
When asked about Remo’s whereabouts, Fagge said he had been released until the outcome of the investigation, as the offence was yet to be established.
