EXTRA: I wear white suits because they are cheap, says Oyedepo

David Oyedepo, founder of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, says he wears white suits because they are cost-effective.

The bishop is known to wear mainly white outfits during public functions.

Speaking during a conference at the Church of God Mission in Benin, Edo state, on Friday, Oyedepo said white-coloured clothes are easier to maintain and do not fade into other colours.

“Do you know why I wear white? It is the cheapest thing to wear. White suits are the cheapest or you don’t know, try it,” he said.

“I used to crack a joke with a friend and said, you see my dress, the whole thing, how much does it cost because I have the permanent white up and down that I wear.

“If I don’t change, you can’t know because if it fades, it fades to white. White can’t fade to black, it can only fade to white.”

Oyedepo recently courted controversy over his stance against the COVID-19 vaccine. The cleric has publicly stated that the virus does not exist and advised his congregation against taking the vaccine.

In July, the cleric again came under fire after a sack letter issued to pastors in his church circulated on social media.

The letter had stated that the pastors were relieved of their jobs due to the low growth index of their parishes.

In his defence, Oyedepo said: “People are confused about our ministry. Some fellows said, ‘they didn’t bring income, that’s why they were asked to go.’ We asked you to go because you’re unfruitful blatant failures. We have no question with failure.”
