Buba Galadima, a chieftain of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), says if Rabiu Kwankwaso asks his supporters to dive into a fire, half of Kano state will gladly oblige him.
Kwankwaso is a former governor of Kano and an ex-presidential candidate — latest being on the NNPP platform. His supporters, easily identified by their traditional red caps, call themselves the Kwankwasiyya Movement.
Galadima spoke on Sunday night during an interview with Channels Television.
He described Kwankwaso as a person who “the people so much believe in”.

The NNPP chieftain said Kwankwaso is still the leader of the party, adding that attempts to portray him in bad light failed.
“If Kwankwaso says go and fall into fire and die, I am telling you half of Kano people will do that because they so much believe in him, they trust him,” Galadima said.
“There are some leaders of the APC that were paying some groups in the NNPP to try to portray Kwankwaso in a bad light and they are using them.

“But they had a taste of their own pill. They went to court in Anambra where the party was born in Awka and challenged the authenticity of the leadership of the NNPP.
“Do you know what the court ruled? If they ever mentioned that again, they would find themselves in Kirikiri.
“He is still the leader of the party and I want people to understand something. Kwankwaso was being called ‘Madugu’ before he joined even the PDP.
“He was also called ‘Jagora’. The meaning of Madugu and Jagora is leader. So, he is not only a leader in NNPP, but he is also a universally accepted person as a leader and manager of human beings who has done well for the people.

“That is why they love him.”
