Pro-government campaigner demands end to hunger in Abuja
A counter protester erroneously called for an end to the prevailing economic hardship during the nationwide demonstrations.
A youth-led protest against the soaring cost of living in Nigeria began on Thursday.
In a viral video, the demonstrator who was holding aloft a placard that read: ‘No to protest’, noticeably veered off script as he spoke into television cameras.
He was reminded of his talking points by a horde of his colleagues. But it was too late. The damage to the cause had been done.

“One thousand naira will not be sufficient for someone to drink garri, wey be say before, N100 will be enough for you to drink garri and do other things,” the campaigner said in passable English.
“So, now we are calling to let Mr President know that things are hard, let him consider us.”
He was quickly called to order by other members of his group.

“Oga, what are you saying?” they queried.
Counter-protesters have been calling for the anti-hunger marches to be shelved since organisers of the #EndBadGovernance demonstrations unfurled their schedule in late June.
