Darius Ishaku, governor of Taraba state, has demonstrated that the demanding nature of political offices is no excuse for not engaging in sports activities.
But that’s not the gist. Photos of the governor playing golf on dry grass had emerged online and went viral on Sunday.
Golf is a club-and-ball sport usually played on green grass with finely textured blades that allow the ball to roll easily — with less resistance — for smooth and fast play and in a serene environment.
But in the now-viral photos, the 66-year-old politician cum architect could be seen flaunting his golfing skills in an environment many argued is below the sport’s standard.

The development has since ignited a plethora of reactions among Nigerians on social media, especially Twitter.
“Now you see one of the reasons why Nigeria isnโt going. We think these people in leadership know the right thing to do but they donโt. They are colour blind and totally detached from reality. I canโt even pretend to play golf in a field like this,” a Twitter user wrote.
“Is he playing on a reclaimed dumpsite?” another user wrote.
Here’s what some Nigerians had to say:

Let Baba enjoy his golf ooh! If he builds a standard golf course with millions, we are the same people that will come for his head that it's not priority and all.

The whole governor of a state playing golf on a rice farm. If this doesn't bother then only a few things can in this life. He can't even fix a golf course which he personally uses or at least for the cameras, yet he's expected to fix e.g roads he hardly plies in his state.
