In a state with over 800,000 out-of-school children, the Jigawa government says it will open a bidding process for the construction of 95 mosques across the state.
According to a survey by the Education Sector Support Programme in Nigeria (ESSPIN), there are more than 800,000 out-of-school children between the age of 3 and 18 in the state.
According to NAN, Isma’il Ibrahim, spokesman, office of the secretary to the state government (SSG), disclosed the project in a statement on Tuesday.
While 90 will be Friday congregational mosques, five will be daily prayer mosques.

Ibrahim said the bidding for the construction of 95 mosques would commence in the second quarter of 2020, according to the tenders board committee in the state.
The spokesman said about 200 contractors would be bidding for the project.
According to him, the process of selecting the contractors would be “transparent, fair and just”.

Commenting on behalf of the bidders, Yusuf Saminu, representative of Danfatu and Sons Nigeria Limited, expressed satisfaction with the way the state government is going about the process.
