The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Vanguard Forum says Godwin Obaseki, governor of Edo state, has “officially defecated” to the party.
Obaseki announced his defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the PDP on Friday.
In a Twitter post (now deleted), the forum said some members of the state house of assembly and the state executive council also moved with the governor to the PDP.
“Governor Obaseki, his Deputy, 14 memebers of HoS, 18 LGA Chairmen, 196 councillors and the entire members of state executive council have OFFICIALLY defecated to @OFFICIALPDPNig,” the forum tweeted.

On June 12, Obaseki, who was elected governor of Edo on the platform of the APC, lost the chance of seeking a second term with the APC after he was disqualified by the screening committee from participating in the governorship primary scheduled for June 22, 2020.
The governor had called on his supporters to remain calm after the disqualification, saying that he would announce his decision on the matter after meeting President Muhammadu Buhari.
The governor and his deputy have been granted a waiver by the PDP to contest the primary election slated for Tuesday.
