EXTRA: Police arrest sex worker for ‘stabbing client to death’ in Lagos

The police command in Lagos says its operatives have arrested Joy Kelvin, a commercial sex worker, for allegedly stabbing a 48-year-old “client” to death.

Benjamin Hundeyin, police spokesperson in Lagos, said a friend of the deceased reported the murder at the Ilasan police division.

Hundeyin added that the incident happened at 5:32 am on Monday at the Jakande Housing Estate in the Lekki area of Lagos.

“A complainant informed us that he received a call from a friend stating that Okafor had been stabbed in his home by Joy Kelvin, a sex worker he had brought home for the night,” NAN quoted Hundeyin as saying.

The police spokesperson noted that the victim was rushed to the General Hospital, Marina, where he was confirmed dead by the attending physician.

Hundeyin noted that the police quickly responded to the report and apprehended the suspect at the scene.

“The body has been removed and taken to the General Hospital Mortuary in Yaba for preservation and autopsy,” he said.

Hundeyin stated that efforts are underway to contact the family of the deceased, adding that an investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
